Can I use HT4 Balance Shampoo before my transplant?
Yes. Using P1 Balance Shampoo for around 30 days before your procedure helps create the best possible environment for surgery. By gently cleansing and calming the scalp with ingredients like eucalyptus, peppermint, and tea tree it reduces excess oil, dryness, or flaking. A balanced, healthy scalp can support the healing process once your transplant is complete.
Do I need to use Balance Shampoo before my transplant?
Ideally, we recommend using P1 Balance Shampoo for 30 days before surgery to get your scalp in the best possible condition. But if you’ve only just discovered HT4, don’t worry even using it for the time you have left can still be beneficial.
Balance isn’t just for before surgery. Thanks to its soothing blend of natural oils and piroctone olamine, it’s also useful afterwards. Patients often use it on the donor area to ease the common dryness that appears as the skin heals. And even once the whole scalp looks recovered, many people continue to experience dryness or irritation Balance can help calm and rebalance these symptoms whenever they arise.
When can I start using HT4 products after my transplant?
HT4 products are designed to support each stage of recovery. You’ll start with P2 Cleanse Spray in the first few days, before moving on to gentle cleansers and moisturisers as your scalp heals. On the HT4 box is a schedule to help you stay on track.
Which product do I use first after surgery?
For the first 1–3 days, only the P2 Cleanse Spray should be used. It gently washes away debris and keeps the area clean without touching the grafts. Next follow the schedule.
How long should I keep using post-transplant products?
Most people use HT4 products beyond surgery, enjoying the benefits of Balance Shampoo, P4 Protect shampoo and Nourish conditioner. P4 has been designed to support and optimise new growth.
Are these products safe for sensitive, healing scalps?
Yes. HT4 formulas are formulated for post-transplant care, using mild surfactants, natural moisturisers, and soothing ingredients and no parfumes. P2 is Sterile, P3 has been Dermatologically tested. It is Hypoallergenic.
Can HT4 P4 conditioner be used every wash cycle?

What does non-comedogenic mean?
“Non-comedogenic” means a product is specially formulated not to block pores. When pores get blocked, it can lead to spots, blackheads, or irritation. A non-comedogenic product uses ingredients chosen to avoid that, making it suitable for sensitive or healing skin — like the scalp after a hair transplant.
What does hypoallergenic mean?
“Hypoallergenic” means a product is formulated to minimise the chance of causing an allergic reaction. It doesn’t guarantee that absolutely no one will react, but it does mean the ingredients have been carefully selected to be gentle and well tolerated, even on sensitive or healing skin.
When will my scalp feel “normal” again?
Everyone heals at a different pace. Research shows grafts are usually secure by about 6–9 days after surgery, but it may take a few weeks for redness, dryness, or sensitivity to settle fully.
Can women use HT4 products too?
Absolutely, the gentle formulas are suitable for anyone looking after their scalp and hair. Can also be used after Scalp micro-pigmentation.
Do the products have a fragrance?
Only Balance has a natural fragrance. Refreshing scents from natural oils such as eucalyptus, peppermint, and juniper berry. These are chosen to be clean and invigorating, without being overpowering.
When is it safe to wash my hair after a transplant?
You can usually start rinsing with sterile saline (P2 Cleanse Spray) on day one. Gentle shampooing with P3 Bathe Foam is typically introduced from day 3 onwards, once advised by your clinic. Always follow your surgeon’s instructions first.
How do I avoid damaging the grafts when washing?
In the first 10 days avoid rubbing, scratching, or using strong water pressure. HT4 has been designed so that there is little need to use heavy touch. Apply the foam, be gentle and spread without touching the scalp. Leave on a couple of mins allowing it to cleanse and moisturise. Use a cup with tepid water to pour off the foam.
